The University of Florida is the Flagship university of the State of Florida. It continually achieves national and international recognition and prominence for multiple academic disciplines and groundbreaking research. More importantly, the University of Florida assumes the primary responsibility for creating, developing, nurturing and inspiring Gators everywhere. The University of Florida is the Foundation for the Gator Nation.
The Gator Nation
Everyone associated with the University of Florida -- past, present or future -- is a member of The Gator Nation! The Gator Nation is everywhere and includes students, alumni, faculty, staff, administration and the family and friends of all those listed. In addition, Florida residents, university research and financial partners, funding agencies, private donors, politicians (local, state and national) and more are part of The Gator Nation. The University of Florida is in Gainesville, The Gator Nation is everywhere.
A Gator
A Gator is anyone whose love for the University of Florida forever draws them to the university and to their fellow Gators. A Gator is more than a loyal alumnus or rabid sports team supporter. A Gator is somehow personally defined by his or her connection or bond to the University of Florida. Gators seek each other out. Gators support and encourage each other in success and stand together through adversity. Gators are proud to be part of The Gator Nation.
